>>57831655Its a slippery slope this Master Set business, theres a whole rabbit hole I went down collecting 151.
So it started out with just wanting to collect the set. So I was buying products at walmart and my lgs, not an issue at the time, stuff wasnt flying off the shelves like it is now.
So I got like a few of each product, the zapdos boxes, the poster collections, and the alakazam boxes, a few etbs and box of the booster bundles. Later down the road I got the UPC as well. I basically pulled the entire set from that stuff.
So now I had the entire set, but heres where it got wonky, a few of the cards had been removed to be promos. & In the ETB booklet it essentially indicates theyre apart of the set. So now i've merged some cards without the MEW set symbol into my collection. It seems to make reasonable sense, the cards are mechanically the same as other cards in the set and are in the japanese set and were released in official 151 products.
Okay now enter blackstar promo 055 Kangaskhan ex. Its essentially an alternative art design to the 151 kangaskhan in every way. Is that card apart of the set? It seemed to perfect not to add so I added it.
Okay well then rolls in paldean fates with a billion reprints of 151 cards but with shiny arts.. and the full arts are basically the exact same but with shiny colors. So I add those. Later the chinese release of 151 would also add them to the set.
Then Stellar crown rolls out and the charizard box with the toy card holder. They have alternative art of the 151 blastoise, venusaur, and charizard but are mechanically the exact same and basically the exact same art just slightly different. So I buy those products.
Now im basically checking every product release for a new variant or reprint of an existing 151 card to add to my 151 binder collection.
A couple non-holo theme deck variants and some mcdonalds cards later and im 400+ cards deep.
