I would actually say these type of jokes are funny, but like... once. The unfortunate parts of the internet is it's everybody's first time, so even if everyone got it out of their system then the next day would be a new person thinking they discovered the height of comedy.

Also, this one isn't funny.
Royal Masked works because the story is 100% on the joke.
But you can't make the same joke alongside Penny's "twist" of being cassiopea being played straight.

This joke isn't funny because Clavell isn't a masked luchador. Clive is Clavell, the game tells you this. Trade Pokemon with Clavell and he'll give you the massive fucking pompadour wig he used as a hairstyle.

I unironically played through the entire Team Star campaign thinking Clive was a different character and just thought GF was lazy and reused Clavell's model and changed the hair. It wasn't until the battle where he reveals himself that I realized it was Clavell in a disguise.

Here's the thing, what's more likely, that Game Freak would try to write a creative story or that they'd be lazy and copy and paste? Like, statistically I made the right call in assuming the NPC, for whom I was mashing through all of his dialog, wasn't the guy from the school.
