>>57850674The only genuinely non-functional puzzle in BW is the ice gym, which just continues to make Brycen the fucking worst. Compare that to XY's cave that's two straight lines and is one of the few areas with anything remotely worth backtracking to in spite of that, or the cave where the gimmick is the camera placement and is still arguably a better Lost Woods than the dedicated area later in the game, or the extremely basic cave, or the excessively linear powerplant way too late in the game for that to be fine, or the ice puzzle that is broken by walking diagonally, or Team Flare Secret HQ trying to ape N's Castle's design with none of what made N's Castle good (placement in regards to the rest of the game, lore, actual solid Pokemon battles). Terminus Cave is fine even if the backtracking element is somehow terrible despite the game generally being allergic to it, I'm impressed that one of the few attempts at it was so fucking bad. Lysandre Labs and the Pokeball Factory are the two I was thinking of as they're just solid fairly well designed dungeons, although if we're bringing up optional stuff I want to give a shout out to Lost Hotel for being a highlight of the game since it's nice to have a dungeon that's both designed and optional. And I'd like to take this opportunity to shit on the Chamber of Emptiness for being a single room with a single item in it that doesn't have a real world reference like Scorched Slab and has less map design than Altering Cave, a map that fundamentally doesn't work.
>>57850728BW is overall better designed than DP, the fuck are you on about? If you're including DS titles in regards to 3D, then BW is easily the best first version, as DP is a fucking mess, XY has some bad shades of DP in spite of itself, SM is borderline experimental, SS is just a bad JRPG, and SV is at best a mediocre open world title.
