VICTORY!
I ended doing the E4 fights until I learned their movesets and patterns. I got a sense for how and when the AI switches and predicts.
The Icium Z that I got for
doing that ice/fairy quest in seafoam was clutch. i gave it to gengar in double battles and with his Icy Wind he took out major threats like the rival's
Mega Salamance.
I'd farmed a bunch of Max Revives by doing dens and snatching from linoons, so I used those quite a bit in these fights. It's safe to say that with zero items I would have struggled a lot more.
It's my first time playing a "difficulty" type pokemon mod. I've played story hacks like FR Rocket Edition and nuzlocke hacks like Prim, but this one was very different. I came away with a lot of appreciation for combat mechanics, breeding, egg moves, and SPEED.
I thought at first that I wouldn't like the new mechanics like mega-evo but I like all of them. Dens are fun, *finding* the dens is some of the best content in the game. Just go out and explore, the reward is basically a renewable treasure chest full of great things like max revives and rare candies.
Although - at first - I raged fiercely at how I had to learn how to play the game instead of just killing everything with my overleveled starter... ultimately I adapted, learned to leverage my own strengths, and won.
I think it was the right decision to stick with Expert despite some guys telling me I should drop the difficulty
>>57859753 . If I had done that, I think that I would have missed out on a lot of the actual soul of the game.
It definitely becomes a lot easier as you get more tools like breeding and especially the dexnav is a huge boon.
Maybe I will play SV next.>>57879857Yup, I've been using that a lot.
And it was less about the pinsir and more about how I wanted to explore more.
