After playing every mainline game with no nostalgia filter, I can confidently say that GSC is the worst game at original release in the series. BDSP and Let's Go! are both worse, but those are remakes. The only positives at all for GSC are the graphics, music, and legendaries. In terms of everything else: dex, encounter tables, level distribution, map layout, gimmicky time system, phone calls, plot, progression, and more, the game is an absolute trainwreck that is boring and NOT FUN compared go the games released before or after.
