>>57864866>Outside of stuff specifically mentioned in source material, what attracts people to some regions? Does Hoenn have a desirable higher education system, Is Unovan pizza really the best in the world? At this point is my take on the setting-
Kanto- home to The Pokemon Professor, plenty of academics migrate there for conferences/easy access to peers. Something of a hub for research groups, thanks to Oak's name.
Johto- Near Kanto, good for tourism. Also has a Battle Frontier near Olivine that draws in the elite trainer crowd looking to test their skills and improve.
Hoenn- Tourism, camping expeditions, etc.The de-facto place to go for Contests as well. An attempt was made to add an even bigger Battle Frontier to draw in the elite trainer crowd, but contracts fell through and there was some conflict with ecological groups that's left it with a smaller facility borrowing its style from a proof of concept.
Sinnoh- Winter sports, well preserved historical sites, etc. Also has a thriving contest circuit. The Battle Frontier project in Sinnoh failed, but was originally planned to be the same as Johto's.
Unova- Major trade hub and stopover point for flights. Also currently hosting a massive expo for world-class trainers.
Kalos- French Tourism. Wines and cheese abound, along with a number of researchers investigating the effects of the Flare incident's conclusion and the results of AZ's ultimate weapon being charged. Also home to a proof of concept battle facility.
Alola- Tourism. Some relaxed regulations on catching pokemon as well.
Galar- Nobody goes to Galar, the league there is insane and they have a nasty customs office.
Paldea- Some researchers trying to investigate the Tera phenomena, but mostly seen as the place to send your kids for boarding school.
