why doesnt Nintendo just make a pokemon game for PC
it would sell literally quatrillions but instead they release them on a niche console limiting the playerbase also pocket card mobile game and pogo shows it too theres a big market for it

Because the cost-benefit of permanently damaging your console selling business to have theoretically amazing software sales on Steam doesn't add up. Valve takes a large cut of the profits whereas Nintendo can make 100% of the money with their 1st party titles on their machine. The long term effects to make big profit in the short term would result in Nintendo's entire business plan collapsing and Valve would even gain some control and leverage over their IPs. If there's such a massive desire for Pokemon games out there then why aren't they buying a Switch or Switch 2 to play them? Idiots sitting on their PC saying they'd definitely buy Pokemon on PC are exactly the same people that would no longer buy Nintendo consoles, would complain about the price and wait for a sale, would them complain the sale isn't good enough and wait years, then after waiting years for a better sale would then say oh well I already stole it and played it so why bother paying for it now? If you want to see what happens when your exclusives disappear just look at Xbox and PlayStation.

Because by sticking exclusively to their own platform, they get the most of the profit cuts, and more importantly, Pokemon is a system seller. Even people who have literally zero interest in Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, Zelda, Smash Bros, etc... will buy a Nintendo platform JUST for mainline Pokemon.
Remember, a mainline game's profits are already getting split primarily between Nintendo, GameFreak, Creatures Inc. and The Pokemon Company, why the fuck would they want to fracture the cash flow even more by getting a PC publisher involved, and Nintendo clearly has no interest in becoming a PC publisher themselves?

NTA, but that stops them from selling a spin-off that doesn't compete with the main console games, for example Unite and Master ex, which are really created for smartphones, they could easily create a game like Warcraft, Diablo, or Ages of Empires with Pokemon, all exclusive to PC.

What kinds of spinoffs would warrant going middle of the road, though? Ever since GO paved the way, the sales metrics haven't lied that mobile spinoffs rake in the most money by far, eclipsing even the mainline games.
There's just little gain to fully investing in regular spinoffs, mobile is the unfortunate future.

Too much fundamental overlap with Masters EX (a game that isn't doing all that hot because they mistakenly put too much emphasis on the humans rather than the Pokemon) since they'd obviously tie the good towers to a gacha, and the game would ultimately boil down to being an autobattler by that virtue, which MEX is.

I think this idea could be adapted to a game where you're a pokemon zookeeper, where you have to prepare different diets for each Pokémon, as well as clean their habitats of waste and repair their fences, or they might escape and cause trouble. At the end of each game, you collect money from visitor tickets. As your level increases, more tasks will be assigned and more habitats will be opened: an aviary, an aquarium, an arctic with an artificial climate, a butterfly house, a herpetarium.

Steam having a defacto monopoly is part of why they'll never do this, particularly now that the steam deck exists. PC exclusive stuff is also an increasingly niche space that's mostly streamer-bait indie shit.
