Things that make the game less of a hassle/more convenient without affecting the core gameplay.

In gen 1 you needed to go to the menu to use HMs or get on the bike, newer games you just press select to get on the bike or press A in front of the HM required tile and the game will prompt if you want to use it. That's good quality of life

Universal exp share you can't turn off in games that are poorly balanced in the name of "but now you don't have to grind" is bad quality of life

A measure of how many times I think 'this is annoying' when engaging with something.

Examples:

Oh, if I hit down while at the bottom of a list of options it won't take me to the top. That's annoying.

Oh, I have to manually purchase each item when trying to buy multiples of the same item. That's annoying.

Oh, I can't easily organize my items despite the fact that item management isn't an intentional part of gameplay. That's annoying.

Like a prompt asking to use another repel. small change that cuts down on going into the inventory to spray another one.

The concept is 'lean' in the business world. Anything that is not directly about assembling or creating the product is wasted time and effort that should be minimized. If I was a bar tender, me walking from one side of the bar to grab a glass, just to walk to the other other side to fill the cup is wasted time, it would be better for the cups to be next to the dispenser.
