And instead of most of the stories beats actually occuring there outside of the forced stops, the academy is just redundant and wouldn't hurt any of the notable characters if it got removed.

Anyone who justifies a school as a central zone for Pokemon deserves their head to be caved in. Eight fucking generations wasn't a school needed for Pokemon and forcing my ass into a mediocre ass school setting isnt gonna make me like it more. When I was a kid I did school, maybe homework and that's all the time I spent thinking about it, everything else was what they are supposed to be. Video games for playing a GAME. You mean that I can no longer learn shit about Pokemon or other mechanics on the fly? You want me to stay put in a room to digest it like you try to digest a fucking apple? Bullshit, they handed out fucking adventure journals and other shit for the player to learn from in the handheld era and I sure as hell didn't needed a school setting to get it. That's the same shit why Pokemon loses it's edge because we can't have somewhat complicated language or other potentially compromising figures in a school setting.
