>>57882766>A lot of you just have really shitty RNGI played thousands upon thousands of hours of Pokemon and it took until gen 6 to see my first shiny. It was a shiny Geodude in a swarm on Victory Road in X which promptly used Explosion as soon as I singled it out. The next one I saw was a Houndour a few hours later wandering around in the same game which I'm pretty sure was God giving me a mulligan. It then took several hundred more hours until I got to SWSH where I got a shiny Tyrogue and Litwick within about 30 hours of each other. Everything after that I intentionally hunted and caught because it was finally fun to do so and wasn't a needless chore in LGPE, PLA, and SV.
I think everyone who wants them to be rare has no valid argument for why they want them to be rare that aren't based on emotion or "It should be a surprise". There are over a thousand of these designs now that they keep updating that almost no one got access to unless they intentionally spent hours upon hours using the one method that raised the encounter rates to maybe get them until gen 8. You had to specifically dedicate hours to doing stuff like chain fishing, DexNav, or the Masuda Method and even when doing so you could spend dozens of hours for nothing. Kids also don't even recognize they're special in most cases.
The only shiny I ever wanted was a Clauncher in X. I spent like six hours chain fishing with a Malamar that had Suction Cups and got nothing. I also never got the Shiny Charm until PLA because I didn't have people who were able to trade evolve stuff on certain gens or because I didn't have access to certain legendaries. I'm glad the Shiny Charms are now easy to get, Mass Outbreaks exist, and I can specifically hunt the exact Pokemon I want whenever I want. I even have a shiny Clauncher in SV.
Shinies still hold value for the people who do care about that, it's just that now everyone can reasonably get it instead of the guy willing to spend 15 hours breeding and releasing.
