The first movie was the most anti-violence, anti-war message ever. Giovanni... Was the bad guy. A greedy heartless capitalist who made a pokemon to be his living weapon. Even that scientist that died in the lab explosion was basically quoting Oppenheimer, though instead of him saying "I am become death destroyer of worlds" it was "We dreamed of creating the worlds most powerful pokemon, and we succeeded" mere seconds before he was obliterated by his own creation.

And then the cherry on top. Brother my Brother. The most beautiful anti-war serenade that overlays the absolute senseless violence of pokemon just beating each other to no end.

Ash literally does a Christ-like sacrifice to stop the fighting. And yet you fucking people didn't learn a fucking thing. You're just as horrible and violent. You idolize terrible people like Giovanni, because you fall for his surface level glamor of being a yakuza cool-guy to understand what a completely evil shitbag he is. And what that kind of person represents.

And it really shows when you people bitch about statlines, about competitive viability. Just how frothingly you want one pokemon to beat the shit out of someone elses pokemon. Forgetting that pokemon is about love, and caring for your companion. Why do you think they locked some of the best pokemon behind trade-evos? So you can trade with your IRL friends. Why lock certain pokemons evos behind literal friendship? Because thats what the message of the franchise is about.
