That they were tired of doing remakes, so instead of a gen 4 remake they would release PLA as a pseudo-return to Sinnoh. But they got cold feet and worried that fans would be mad at the lack of a proper remake, so they decided to have one after all, but at this point they could no longer fit it into their production cycle so they ended up outsourcing it to some idiots who completely botched it.
