In PLA, only the popular characters got a bone, aka only Cynthia and Dawn.
Nobody cares about Calem, and Serena is only known for sucking Ash's dick, which brings up an interesting question: what's gonna be the ratio of new to old characters in ZA? For every Gemma and AZ, there are like six already new characters already show up.

A good chunk of them had very different characters as ancestors. I don't see how the people who like Gardenia got hyped when her ancestor turned out to be a man, unlike Cynthia, who got two ancestors and 2 copy-pasted Dawns

Something tells me that's plassfag you replied to. Haven't seen any other cunts on this board care about gardenia, yet his whole arserape over L: A was no ORAS-style BDSP remake like he'd assumed was gonna happen and her ancestor being a man, while the most popular Sinnoh NPC got both a tradwife ancestor AND a genderbender fujo bait antagonist. Mars never really had a fanbase, so I doubt anyone cares, but the fact that Arezu exists as a upgrade of a still-living character is one of the reasons I’m pretty sure she’s never coming back.

Hopefully ZA brings back some underrated XY characters and gives them some shilling instead of turboshilled flops like Diantha and Korrina.
