Voice acting has only ever made games worse.
Level scaling is fucking miserable, but so is open world in a JRPG. The best option is making it scale based on progression which makes the game more fun but also involves effort AND it's still worse than just creating a straightforward challenge. There's a reason Gen 1's midgame is dogshit if you play it instead of skipping it, and non-linearity negatively impacts Gen 2 to the point people complain about it even if the only really terrible part of Johto would be shitty without it.
The only remotely good looking HD2D game is the Dragon Quest 3 remake and oh look it went more down the path of Xenogears and the DS Pokemon titles instead of whatever the fuck they did to the Live A Live remake.

At most the game director will be involved with the japanese VAs, but GAme Freak isn't a talent agency.

The problem with voice acting in pokemon is that it leads to dubs.

I'm not opposed to "good" voice acting, but no voice acting is better than bad voice acting. I also dislike when games only voice certain lines. I played Metaphor Refantazio lately and it really took me out of the experience how it was seemingly completely random which lines got voiced and which didn't.

Agree with OP, I would prefer a steeper level curve for higher challenge, but level scaling is not the way to go.

As long as they can keep a consistent framerate and make the move animations not embarrassingly bad then I'm satisfied. Nobody plays Pokémon for the graphics after all.

agreed, i should mention i mostly meant the problem would be dubs. japanese VA would probably be fine, but i usually prefer knowing what the fuck is being said (even with subtitles, idk im autistic)

i think level scaling should have been in SV but only to bring lower areas up to player level if you skip them
it sucks realizing the bug gym was meant to be the "first" when it's one of the last things you do and you just feel nothing sweeping the level 10 shitmons with your endgame team

I think the SV one is pretty forgettable but I really like the sound design for Area Zero.
But that's generally how I feel about it, a bad soundtrack is just forgettable, it doesn't make me cringe like bad voice acting. Very few areas in Pokémon have so annoying tracks that I'd rather turn the sound off Eterna City is the only one I can think of right now.

Except not really, because voice acting for Pokemon would amplify dev times (thereby disrupting the usual consistent flow) due to the need for localizing in as many languages as possible to release to as wide an audience as possible, bloat the filesize with a bunch of sound files, and also increase the likelihood of leaks from audition lines or role listings being posted online for all to see.
Also, it'd mean the game's profits would have to split between more involved companies, ultimately reducing the direct net gain of Pokemon's primary owners and TPC.

Level scaling is not about taking down the level, but about taking it up.
Each area still has its base pre-determined level, but if you are too high for it than that area with scale UP to you.
If yo are too low level for an area, it will still be in its base level, it will not scale down.
