Manaphy is the only Mythical Pokémon that can have offspring (if you don't could Phione as a Mythical Pokémon.) so it's strange to have that Pokémon be portrayed as baby in its movie.

Then after that when putting Manpphy in the games, have it be the first time a Mythical Pokémon is able to have offspring, and even then unlike when other Pokémon breed have the species of the child always be a Phione, a specific new species just for this one case.
So that still makes it strange, just the other way around. What that shows is that they really should have had more coordination between the anime and the games when deciding things.
