The GSC pattern is also the same as the RB pattern except it's updated slightly thanks to the better color palette, and the RSE one is a simple copy of that, except that RSE sprites are dogshit so it looks weird
The differences are not an intentional design, and in fact we haven't gotten a different pattern since gen 4 which standardized pokémon designs
