They'll play around with the game's structure or story presentation on occasion, but the basics of combat being simplistic enough for 5 y/o drawer pissers to manage is something I think will unfortunately never change.
It'd be nice if competitive elements were severed from the main series, though, just to see how it would affect the quality of the RPG underneath it all.
