>>58049157Really the point of my posts was just that feminine Goldeen and masculine Seaking aren't just something made up by the English translation because (Goldeen's obvious feminine design aside) the exact same connotations exist in the original language. The English names are even pretty close translations of the intended concepts behind each mon; ex. both have a king/queen thing going in Japanese too in either their names or dex entries.
Basically I was just trying to say that this time it's not a Mr. Mime situation where the English name just came out of nowhere and creates confusion; it's likely Japanese players might feel the evolution is kind of a genderbender thing too. I'm not the OP so maybe you thought I made the thread, then posted the name bullshit to justify it? But really I'm just someone interested in the translation process and I thought the argument that no one would ever see Goldeen as female without the English translation was weird
