The question being asked, ultimately, is whether you believe Zekrom and Reshiram combined would be unable to defeat Eternatus, and that seems far-fetched to me. At the very minimum they're equals, but the dragons just seem to have more implied power to them.

Ultimately, they have different strengths. Unova's pair can decimate armies and devastate entire countries, while the dogs are geared towards the 1v1 and personal duels. They can probably win if Reshiram and Zekrom stay and fight, but would be at a disadvantage if they decided to just fly over Galar at mach-fuck and beamspam everything.

If it did ever come down to it then Zacian and Zamezanta would die like dogs. Eternatus was solo against them, but the twin dragons are two, nullfying the greatest advantage the dogs had against Eternatus: that being the ability to coordinate perfect offense and defense against a long targer.
And even if we presume the dogs could beat the two dragons, there are strategical aspects to factor in. The twin dragons have better mobility in the air and better mass destruction capability, so they'd be able to remove the Galarian armies and leave the dogs trapped in a sea of angry Unovans. If that's still not enough, they could fly over to Galar and do a nuking to force the dogs to surrender. If the dogs try to do the same thing in Unova then they'll likely be facing the swords of justice + the rest of the Unovan forces.

Both regions are super fucked but I think Galar has an edge, and would also bounce back faster. Kyurem and the three genies are a pretty decent threat, but Calyrex is bullshit and can regrow life in a glassed wasteland, it was his whole deal. I think the Galarian bird trio can match the genies in the sky and Regidrago and Regieleki can do insane levels of damage to Unovan cities.

Calyrex is a precog, so bullshit counters bullshit, and Eternatus can raise an army of gigantic rampaging pokemon in an instant. It's close, but Galar wins. Better luck next time yanks.

The dragons are actually a very even match for the dogs I would say. Their secondary typings both provide defense against steel, and Reshiram also counters fairy weakness. Zekrom would struggle while Reshiram would thrive. Probably the two dragons that could actually stand up to the dogs. But I also feel like the dogs absolutely have better teamwork. The dragons split for a reason and have been enemies before, but the dogs are true bash brothers.

This coincidence is kind of Funny.
Makes me think of SBR crossover where Valentine wins in end so that Victini ends up on the island. All because there isn't a equivalent to the Spin to pierce through Victory Star.

I think Pillar Men would be the result of a proto ultimate weapon made by cavemen. Or one that didn't absorb enough Pokemon to grant immortality like AZ's did.
Instead they gain longevity and the ability to absorb living beings like the weapon can. Their supernatural abilities are the result of AURA of course, made easier because of the Infinity Energy within them. AZ never had aura of his own because his ass was too depressed to cultivate the energy in him.

Pokémon regions seem far less populated and settled than their IRL country counterparts. Unova being the biggest example. I hope a future game explores a region that's not really a region yet, just a bunch of explorers mapping a new land for settlement. The franchise sorely needs more exploration.

I think it's less type based and more specific to pokemon types. For example, something like a Trevenant could live a long time due to being a tree compared to a Gourghiest. And a Blastoise or a Turtinator due to being a turtle compared to a Seaking, Durant, or a Tatsugiri.

Rotom Phone is that useful exposition side character that blindly follows the MC but can go for several arcs without being mentioned by the author (who occasionally forgets he exists)

I'd argue aura is at most only a special type of Qi given how aura is a special thing only certain pokemon have access to and how Lucario's organs and mega evolution specifically state they grow more attuned to Aura in particular even though all pokemon get stronger in "Qi" through mega evolution.

I thought about writing one where the MC thought he was mystery dungeoned as a riolu/lucario, only to realize it's a normal pokemon world and tries to use holograms and disguises so that he can compete with his pokemon by swapping out during certain fights without anyone noticing.

oh and of course hijinks chapters, like getting caught out in the open and having to spend the day as a pokemon in public so no one finds out the true identity, or the pokemon using holograms/illusions to pretend to be the MC would have slightly different personalities for comedic effect.

Running into a similar issue with my arc finale (not nearly as long though). My chapters usually run 4-7 thousand words, and this one’s shaping up to break 10 thousand. I’m thinking I give myself that extra length since it is a finale and I can do it, but only for finales. I don’t know what your normal chapter lengths are, but if it more than doubles or triples your range it’s probably time to cut it in half.

Watch how battles work in anime and it's like 2/3rds people talking and 1/3rd the fight. It's not just for animation costs, but also for story telling. In an anime they can at least run a silent scene or battle, but you can't do that with writing.

I don't think Alphas are 'just bigger'. Some of the trailers for PLA made it seem like the Alphas were caused by space rift shenanigans which is why they aren't found in modern games. Them appearing in ZA might imply that more than one thing can cause pokemon to become Alphas, or its possibly related in some way to the rift in PLA (After all, a rift in time implies that there is a second location where the rift is connecting to).

Maybe. I am not a big super heroes guy. I was just thinking about it because in another thread talking about team leaders people were arguing about how honorable Giovanni is and it got me thinking about the subtle differences in each version of him. Like how in the show he rarely gets his own hands dirty, but in Gen 1 he actually took pride in his abilities as a trainer. Or how the Rainbow Rocket version cuts his loses and leaves without his ambition even being fazed when in Gen 1 he ended up seemingly rethinking his whole life. Or how in Pokespe he's a master strategist pokemon battler who calculates his battles down to the literal second, while in Go he is constantly coming up with plots to capture legendary pokemon to brute force battles while also never benching his Persian. Just got my brain thinking.

Multiverses were only good for crossovers and RPs (especially on tumblr, of all places). Making a series on such runs into the trouble of authenticity of the involved works of fiction; take a look at Undertale and their "Underverse" series.

Thanks. It is just an easter egg, I couldn't resist. In universe Silver harrassed Mr. Fuji one time when Team Rocket was still active in Kanto pre Gen 1. He was a really bratty kid who was emulating how he saw some grunts try to intimidate Mr. Fuji. He essentially Denis the Menace'd him (holy shit I'm old) and Mr. Fuji lost his temper in a 'get off my lawn you darn kid' sort of way. Blaine likes to tease him about it because it was one of the only times Mr. Fuji has lost his temper. But I couldn't not include a reference to it when the story already set a precedent to there being conspiracy theories about human experimentation at the Pokemon Mansion.

While I have seen the former and have never seen the later, most would rather pick the anime or games for a power fantasy because the world feels, bigger I guess?

Just label the start of the arcs when they happen. You don't need to label the end because they'll know it ended when you start the next one. If you use Ao3 you can actually make each arc it's own fic with and just group them together as a series. So it could be like 'Battle Tendency', part of the JoJo series.

I think it's just the vocal minority here.
Usually because they are mostly for glazing the MC or whoever, they rarely add much to the story and can generally be skipped so that's where the dislike comes from. You can use it to progress the plot but how you do so will be tricky.
You mentioned misinformation, is the chapter going to be about the MC being cancelled online with because of the misinformation? Or is it some PokeTuber or Streamer spreading misinformation, then the chapter could be that + a poketube comment section and the MC reacting to the stream while it's running.
Basically, make it part of the chapter and not the entire thing and it should be fine. Also avoid usernames unless they are going to be a reoccurring character, good ones take forever to think of, bad ones are cringe and takes me or other readers out of the story.

It's more that my fic has the characters trying to get to the bottom of a conspiracy theory and they have to sift through the mass of information online to figure out whats true and whats bullshit.

Small example, the Kanto /x/ community believes that Blue is a former admin of team rocket because there are reports that he fought in a pokemon battle to prevent people from reaching the Silph Co president. Then he 'conveniently' took over the Viridian gym after Giovanni went missing. Now he's currently in Alola and, surprise surprise, Team Rocket has been rumored to have been spotted in the region after years of inactivity. And considering Team Rocket was possibly related to genetic experiments in Cinnabar the logical conclusion is that Blue is actually a super soldier clone of Professor Oak that was kidnapped by TR when they burned down the mansion.

Putting him next to Ghetsis was a shitpost cause I don't think he's evil at all. But I could see him being the type of person to get roped into performing experiments that go too far before retiring out of regret to run a Pokémon orphanage, in an attempt to do some good for the world to offset his mistakes. An evil version would basically not undergo that change, maybe thinking he's already in too deep or doubling down that it must all lead to a safer, better world at the end that will cleanse the cost of it all.

Sensibly chuckling. There's no need for such aggression, anon. Information gathering is just a big part of my fic, and since its set in post-gen9 Kanto a lot of said information exists online. But the information is related to things that happened years ago that the public would likely not have much knowledge of its buried in old blogs and forum discussions, which are about as credible as one would expect them to be. So the characters have to sift through the bullshit to find out what clues are actually of value.

I'm pretty sure RWBY flopped because Monty Ohm died. He was the original creator of the series and the over the top 3D action fights were a trademark of his. But he died sometime during the first or second season I think?

I know this because I'm Final Fantasy Fag and Monty Ohm first got big from his Dead Fantasy series where cute girls from Dead or Alive and Final Fantasy beat the crap out of each other. Gen 1 was retarded and even broke its own rules, don't treat it as gospel.
Anyways, fandom consensus seems to be 6 is the limit for "official" battles while it's up to author discretion whether actually carrying more than 6 at once without a loicense is illegal or not.

Kris in the manga and Goh are a thing so outside of gameplay you could argue that the 6 per team is mostly a rule for professional trainers that make a living with battles/contest and that everyone else just have a hard time raising a full team or more because only pros get free healthcare

Setting aside the in world rules about team size, there's the question of whether it's practical to write for that many pokemon. If you want them to have characterization or story, spend any meaningful screentime outside of the ball or combat, or have a real relationship with the protagonist, it's going to be nearly impossible to do that while having a team of 6 or more. Every one you add to the story diminishes the rest until they're just gamified collections of moves and typings.

Thankfully you only have to put any effort into writing the Ace, and whatever Pokemon the MC usually leads with (likely to be the Ace's friendly rival). Team Limits are just a fair play/competitive rule for official battles. All bets are off when you are in actual danger and are fighting for your fucking life.
The authorities are not going to arrest people walking around with more than 6 pokemon.
Many trainer do not have the personal resources to upkeep so many Pokémon so its very common to host the reserves back home, in PC's, commercial ranches or labs like is with the case of who Oak sends off.

Im playing around with a plotbunny of a Fighting type specialist, martial artist protagonist raised by his old gramps; owner of a dojo that has seen better days.

One of the main villains is a fraud quack aikido master, based on a combination of Steve Seagal & Mercenary Tao ( dragonball )
Named Ōsensei Zigaal.
He pretends to be a master aura practitioner, whilst in reality he's secretly a Psychic instead.
His martial arts are really fake as well, he's just a good actor.
He basically won by failing upwards constantly, having insanely good luck, much like ''King'' from one punch man, or to some extend ''mr.Satan''

Thew few real Aura practitioners dont care about fame & accolades, though they do find guys like this pretty obnoxious, as he's using cunning psychic trickery ( not nearly as powerful as Sabrina ) ..to somehow turn into a sensation.

When I need a character I go looking for a trainer class that fits the role and go look up actual trainers from the game. I've only actually needed to do it once, a rocker from gen 2, and technically an OC hex maniac. Would like to use it more.

It took me several attempts to understand what you were saying. To be fair to Goku it's not like he can teach people how to be a super saiyan. He couldn't have known the universe was going to hinge on a popularity contest.
