I have fixed the Pokédex.
I have removed every Pokémon that should not exist or, in the case of legendaries, be obtainable in the game by users, and only be bosses or NPC-only.
Discuss.

(It's not properly sorted. Just focus on the Pokémon picks)

Luvdisc Scales and Old Rod. Magikarp is too good to be the only Old Rod candidate, and there needs to be an objectively worst Pokémon. Spinda has the most creative gimmick any Pokémon could have, working with the limitations of its hardware at the time. Carbink is linked to Diancie's lore and placed dead last alongside the other Pokémon "related to" mythicals (Mew and Arceus, respectively)

Eevee is far too iconic to not keep. It is basically posterchild for the franchise alongside Pikachu now. It's like starters. They couldn't be cut off even if I wanted to.
Golisopod is cool, but not worth staying. As you might be able to notice, this is also a bit of a popularity-based thing. With the newer mons being phased out.

Spinda is testament of creativity without overdoing it. Something innocuous and world-building, and a little bit of flavour that made Pokémon what it became. It is as Pokémon as the little dialogues NPCs have, or the rare interactions most users will never see like Mirage Island or the sick little girl.

A few gimmick-mons here and there are nice, but if your dex is only gimmicks and every Pokémon is "special", then none will be.

So yes, I consider Spinda much more worthy of being a Pokémon than Golisopod, Espathra and Grafaial.

The need for Heart Scales have been phased out entirely so it literally serves zero purpose now, & by your logic there's Clauncher, Horsea, Shellder, & Barboach for Rod encounters. I'll give you Carbink but Spinda is unecessarily complicated to the point where it brings nothing but a singular novelty that even then is not fully obtainable what the fuck.
