My problem with a lot of the PokeVillians is that their motivations feel like pic rel. Hoenn isn't overcrowded and it's oceans are pristine. Sinnoh is not being negatively impacted by human emotion or whatever. Kalos isn't being overrun by ugliness. Galar has energy. Etc. All of the perceived problems are so far into the future that jumping to the nuclear option is retarded. In one sense, maybe the writers ARE trying to make the point that people like Maxie/Archie/Cyrus/Lysandre/Rose are fundamentally foolish, but it still doesn't make for very satisfying story-telling
