When it comes to autistically determining a pokemon's personality, which would be more important, marks or natures? And what even is the difference between them lorewise?

Natures. Marks are just Ribbons with a different name meant to encourage players to catch more Pokémon in their empty open worlds.

Mostly natures, but IVs also add "characteristics". For example, a Lucario with its strongest IV being Attack with a value of 30 (or 25, 20, etc...) will be "Proud of its power".

Natures are behavioral tendencies. Marks are dispositions.

The combination of characteristics and nature do a good job at giving each pokemon an individual ‘personality’. There’s a lot of combinations (750, in fact) so you’re unlikely to see duplicates.
