Still the best take on the Pokemon League formula. I'll at least B/W credit for shaking it up once with the main story, even if it goes back to normal afterwards.

SV take is vastly superior
>it's a test linked to the pokemon academy
>in-lore you can partake withou the badges as long you pass an interview so someone like a foreign champion wouldn't have to wipe the floor with gym leaders to prove himself
>you are evaluated by the Champion chairwoman of the league, her right hand, the best gym leader no longer holding back, the strongest teacher of the academy and the number one prodigy in the region
>always the same Champion so the bar isn't never higher or lower and you don't have stuff like 11yo kids being the head of the league
>Champion title is shared and you are free to challenge other Champions if you want without the staff having to change boss and custom room every time two Champion tier rivals fight
>you can still organize events to fight people in rematches as much you want instead of having to beat the Elite Four again for no reason before facing a challenger
>storywise the league isn't even your goal, it's just a step in the way of becoming rivals with your buddy which is one of the three stories before the actual finale of the game

Would have been better if you could actually lose your Champion title (or lose at all) and it would be either battles where their mons scale with your highest mon if your highest is higher leveled than their regular party or if there's no EXP at all.

True. It’s the only time I ever bothered doing the rematches more than once. I hope they revisit this style in a future game with more opponents with varying teams. Seeing Gladion with a KANTOOO starter was neat.

This is at a completely different place than Paldea btw and requires being a champion at the bb league which smacks away everything that Paldea did
