Pokemon don't eat meat in MD, so I figure Shellders generally aren't going to be going around biting Slowpokes at random. Instead, there'd likely have to be some process in place to match Slowpokes with willing Shellders, and the thing with that is that Slowpoke is a very common Pokemon, so it likely wouldn't be practical that all or even most Slowpokes would get to evolve. When willing pairs ARE found they'd be at liberty to try out both the Slowbro and Slowking forms to see what works best for them (Slowking usually wins for obvious reasons). Slowking become guardians and stewards of their kind in this scenario, working to streamline the process in order to get as many willing Slowpokes and Shellders paired up as possible.
Drawfag friend, in his youthful genius, proposed a family reunion between a Slowking and the Cloyster parent of the Shellder on their head... only for the Cloyster to discover to their disgust and horror that both now share a sincere love of terrible puns...
Cloyster: "So, how's life as a Slowking been treating you?"
Shellder crown: "Pretty good, actually! I have been enjoying it a bunch!"
Cloyster: "I imagine. You seem far happier than when you were a Shellder."
Shellder crown: "Yeah, well. I guess I got more shell-f confidence now!"
Cloyster: Top picrel is their face when.
Shellder: "C'mon, Dad, we're just trying to help you... come out of your shell...!"
Slowking: "Maybe he just needs a few PEARLS of my wisdom..."
As for the bottom one, I honestly just wanted to have the Vaporeon lazing on an office water cool from the 4th of July Eevee thread be canon in my setting...
Slowking: “Hey, Vapey! Water you doing?”
Vaporeon: “Just take your water and leave.”
I like to think Slowking and Shellder make those same puns and that same awesomeface everywhere they go, to the point you could make a Brodyquest vid about it (remember that old meme?)
