Despite partially recovering by the "end" of the story (or where it left off, because the story was left unfinished), Grace decided she would be taking Serena back home with her to recover, and when Ash tried to object, Grace shut him down. IIRC, the story cut off just as Ash was plotting with Serena to run away with her to avoid her being forced to end her journey.
