>>58103438I feel like I am going crazy whenever I see how much people praise the Switch for casual play. I absolutely hate it. The battery solution for a hybrid system is my main issue.
Traditional home consoles are just "plug-and play" no charging required. The Switch has to charge for about an hour even while docked before I get to play.
Likewise old handhelds could be played in about 5 seconds top even if their batteries were empty. Switch takes about an hour.
This results in my Switch never actually being ready to go when I want to play unless I have charged it in advance so I just never bother with it.
I booted up my Gameboy SP the other day and it still worked fine as long as the charger was connected because it takes barely any electricity to boot or run, that shit is like two decades old. In a few years when the Switch battery deteriorates it won't even get enough power to boot, literally no better than a brick if you don't change batteries, which god knows how long Nintendo will continue manufacturing.
