For some, PLA was the best title in years and felt like playing gen 1 for the first time. What did you love about it?

it was more experimental and ambitious than gen6+ games. It and USUM were both directed by Iwao and imo these are the two best games since BW2.

Alpha Pokemon were a neat and unexpected addition, with them actually coming after and attacking the player. To this day, I'm still a little surprised GF actually went ahead with that idea.

It did the wide open space thing better than Scarlet/Violent. The music is great. You actually can catch Pokemon similar to in the anime if they're weaker ones. It's in the earliest moment of time in the series, making it the only game taking place earlier than RBY. This gives a very strong feeling of newness. I absolutely loved the game.

I think PLZA looks crap but I loved PLA for its capture mechanic and general flavour and gameplay loop. If it had more moves and more trainer battles it would've been perfect. ZA seems to be taking away everything that made A great.

PLA suffered from being pushed out the door in January 2022, ahead of Scarlet and Violet. PLA should've been the big holiday game that year instead, releasing in November, with Scarlet and Violet coming in November 2023. The extra development time for both games certainly wouldn't have hurt.

For those that have the game and a Switch 2, does the Switch 2 hardware brute force the game to run at a locked 30FPS with reduced (or no) pop-in? I know it didn't, and probably won't, get any official updates from Nintendo/GF. but was just curious if the Switch 2 hardware works enough magic to fix some of the performance issues.

After seeing today's demo I think it looks fun. It won't have PLA's flavour but I still think it'll be fun in its own right. I think calling it 'Legends' was a bad idea.

Probably my favorite Pokémon game, I loved the focus on expanding Gen IV lore while tying up some loose threads and adding connections to other regions. After the Teraleak, it was cool how things that were scrapped from Gen IV were added in PLA. Made me realize the entire reason they want to make these games IS to expand on lore while being more experimental.

It was a fun game to just explore and catch stuff in, but the lack of battles does not lead itself to replays.
Shame, because there's a lot of shitmons that would be more fun to use with the grit system.
