Something that's sort of relevant here is Feraligatr's stance, its Pokédex entry says it struggles to walk on just its hind legs and prefers to walk on all fours, yet walking on its hind legs the only way we ever see it outside of water.
Thing is, that stance is the one alligators and crocodiles take when they are in water, so Feraligatr taking that stance that is fine, when it is in the water, it's just that it only takes that stance in the one situation where it should instead be on all fours, when it's on solid ground.
Other Pokémon do not have this problem, Decidueye for example will stand when on solid ground, but it will start flapping its wings when above water, instead of impersonating Jesus.
