I don't actually need to do that because Johto is damn near perfect, every flaw it has is so minor that they aren't even worth acknowledging and half the things people say are "flaws" with the game are non-issues at the worst and outright strengths at the best (such as the level curve that keeps you a lower level than the majority of the bosses, encouraging you to use actual strategy instead of spamming your strongest move while also giving you options if you're afraid of doing that)

Scyther got a new evolution but really Heracross is way too strong for that point in the game compared to Scyther. Bayleef already has problems with that fight

Cucking Misdreavus doesn't really make sense other than the fact it's shit. I think Misdreavus was a super late addition to the roster given they cut the original, better Panda Jiangshi

Because they were newly discovered rare Pokemon, hence so many of them having 1% encounter rates. So you feel accomplished by being one of the only people in the game to have found them, and keeping continuity in the story from Gen 1.

Yeah, because it being an easy JRPG is way less important than it being an amazing Pokemon game overall. It's like RS being overall a good JRPG and a solid Pokemon game making up for the endgame being borderline experimental, even ORAS can only fuck it up so much (and holy shit they fucked it up a lot). It's not like XY or DP where it's only liked by people with nostalgia for the online, BDSP proved that in spite of everything the game isn't solid and despite several months of the best sales period possible it still barely outsold the experimental tech demo released in Fuck You It's January when nobody had the money to buy it.

The version of Gen 2 was shit out in a year and they were designing Pokemon at the last possible minute so they did not have time to properly balance it. In spite of this it was more fun, had more content, and in some areas was more well thought out than XY somehow. Like Gen 2's big map change resulted in overall more places to explore while XY's cut the post-game, that's embarrassing.

It's just one guy, used to compare it to a bit from Rocko's Modern Life but became as easily identifiable as Yawnfag so had to mildly change tactics (it's still obviously him). I'm also willing to give RS some slack because they had to create an entirely new engine and couldn't reuse an engine that they not only made a previous game in, but also reworked for a game they were working on before they went in a bit of a different direction. And it's not like there's nothing to do in RS or it's bad or anything, it's just that it's basically all during the main story and the end of the game is just open enough to be annoying. Can't excuse the overworld sprites though, I get they were working with the original GBA so they couldn't do night sprites without making you look like an offensive Asian stereotype but the art style they picked looked like complete ass. My question is why the fuck did DP turn out like it did despite a delay? Was 3D and online that complex? Probably for Game Freak yes but that doesn't explain some of the baffling design decisions.

The graphics were the obvious big point of contention given it seemed a lot of things despite the increase in color pallet seemed less detailed or not significantly improved from gameboy games. That I can shrug off compared to just general world design being kind of ass

Also the general idea of a "Land vs. Sea" theme in a game with 17 types and emphasizing the Water type over literally other type in the game is more lopsided distribution than any of Johto's PokeDex issues. There's a reason I say the best counter to most Water types in Hoenn is Thunderbolt Gardevoir, who hard carries the fucking game

i hear this thrown around all the time but the problem is 1) are you seriously going to tell me ledyba/spinarak is too rare for bugsy to have or hoothoot/noctowl is too rare for falkner to have, there are common johtomons that can be added to their teams just fine, and 2) even if they're meant to be rare, gym leaders are meant to be prestigious trainers who, out of anyone in the region be more likely to find said pokemon. and even gameplay experience wise seeing something new on an NPC team could make the player go "oh wow, that's a cool mon, where do i get one?"
