So many things went right. Pokemon had god tier marketing. Say what you want about 4kids, but they significantly propelled Pokemon into the U.S. The english dub was considered amazing even amongst most subfags. 4kids made an iconic theme song and made a Pokemon album that sold over 3 mil copies.
