>>58148213>It's almost as bad as people who thought Metapod looked angry and had a pointy nose.This is a little more understandable because sometimes the actual people drawing the sprites seem to have fucked it up or at least drawn it from weird angles. Like the pointy part is supposed to be on the back and face the same direction as the tail is bending, since Metapod is supposed to have the same general shape/pose as Caterpie, but some of the actual artists seem to have drawn it on the front occasionally, or at least had Metapod facing backwards in its sprite. Like in pic related Yellow seems to be posed to face backwards while possibly international RB is straight up wrong or at least bent in a weird angle, while the other sprites are on model but are easy to also interpret wrong if you first got introduced to the mon through one of the "wrong" sprites. I think Silver is the only one here from the early gens where it's 100% clear what the mon's actually supposed to look like from the front
It's a shame because for a while thanks to those sprites I thought Metapod was just supposed to look like some shitty moonman instead of actually being pretty cute/pathetic
