>>58152172In the past, it made sense for Pokemon to have varying levels of strength because of the way the games were designed as linear rpgs. So Pokemon you encountered earlier were weaker, and that encouraged you to keep looking for stronger Pokemon as the game progressed. Nowadays, with open world design and basically having hundreds of Pokemon vomited on you as soon as you start the game, I kind of agree, maybe they should just be normalized. I wouldn't mind a full sweeping rebalance of all the Pokemon. They need to change some evolution levels too, for the same reason - for example all the Unova Pokemon that evolve super late because they were caught later into the games, it doesn't make sense anymore when you can catch them much earlier. They should just normalize all of this. But I think that's probably too much work for Gamefreak.
Anyway, I think the stats themselves are fine. If I had to change anything, I would probably drop IVs. It's just a frustrating, obscure mechanic in single player, and largely pointless in multiplayer because 99% of the time you're just going to max them all except maybe attack. I think that natures and EVs are already enough to give Pokemon unique traits, and you could give them personality through superficial things like how in PLA Pokemon could be different sizes. IVs just feel redundant.
