One can be avoided easily by simply not reusing TMs after one use, the other can not. There is literally no way around the easyfication of gen 8+ besides having a living dex in every playthrough.

This wouldn't be a problem if GF just gave stronger sets to opponents. They refuse to because they think the only people that play these games are 5 years old, and they don't want them to cry, nvm that even 5 year olds enjoy challenge in their games. Gym leaders having 3 mons with 2 or 3 moves each is embarrassing but that's been the norm since XY.

BW was actually challenging and most gym leaders had 4 moves. XY was the turning point where they decided the game needed to be for infants.

Defeats the purpose of TMs. They SHOULD be rewards, where all the good moves are. If anything level up moves should be shit because they're untrained wild Pokemon. This was supposed to be the point of breeding, being able to carry TM moves from the parent. But they fucked that up thanks to Genderless/Legendaries being unbreedable for "balance reasons" (as if this matters anymore)

But nowadays every Pokemon learns a signature move that basically is their entire gameplan so most old moves are completely worthless

Levels don't mean shit if the movelist can't do anything with it, especially when in Kalos you're 10 levels above your opponent without handicapping yourself. Even doing so I was still on-par with Clemont

Beats me but it's annoying how they can't add a simple thing where you can talk to the trainer to battle them again. Hell, Shin Pokemon Red has that as a way to grind instead of having to get shitty amounts of EXP from grinding in the grass. Not even hacks of GSC have that. The Vs. Seeker item in FRLG and DPPT was the best thing for rematching trainers minus the 100 step cooldown but even that wasn't bad.

Speaking of rotating your party, as much as I don't like difficulty hacks, I can give renegade platinum some praise for having that rancher trainer to battle chanseys with for leveling up. It made it quite easy to get some pokemon ready and make a whole team to counter a gym leader and I did that a couple times and it was a pretty smooth time. (However I never didn't finish my playthrough cause I got a bit of pokemon burnout later on.)
