This game will always remain the most special to me.
I was 6 when I first played it, I am now 30. Seeing my first evolution, getting my first badge, finally getting through your rival after the second gym, figuring out the sequence to get into the rocket undeground layer, finally winning the league. Not to mention all the little daily secrets and caves to explore.
Obviously, I am not going to pretend as if future games didn't expand and improve on things. However, for me this always be the peak of Pokemon, not just because of pure biase, but for that moment everything just clicked. The sprites, the music, the simplicity and lack of cutscenes and direction, made this game so fucking pure.
