Is it just nostalgia speaking but were the late 2000's to early 2010's the best time to be a Pokemon fan/was the fandom's best years?

No nostalgia. Gen 3 to 5 were objectively Pokemon gold age. the only good game from the 3d era is USUM because it's the closest to what pokemon used to be (aside from the intrusive cutscenes)

It legitimately was the best. You could argue the formula was getting repetitive or that they should've embraced 3D models by the DS era, but the games were as polished and feature rich as they've ever been (minus DP poor optimisation). The spin-offs could stand on their own too. I didn't watch the much of the Sinnoh anime but people also seemed happy with that. So yeah, while not the juggernaut that was pokemania I do think it had the highest quality all around for those who stuck with the series or were just getting into it

Yep. Nothing says "feature rich" like cutting battle frontier, contests, secret bases, ribbons, fishing rods, pokeradar, berry farming, and any semblance of exploration.

the most I played the series after the 3D dropoff was in HS I picked it back up to shiny hunt and do glitches and stuff, esp senior year since everything was more lax and nobody cared if I had my DS in class so long as I wasn’t paying much attention to it

sparked a lotta conversations without my doing anything but having the game out and around, was pretty chill
