Granted, the classic releases were hardly masterpieces in the first place, RBY's is barebones by RPG standards and its success has more to do the the idea of Pokemon than than the games themselves, and GSC barely even came out because Game Freak was too busy dicking around without any real vision until Iwata had to tard-wrangle them into accomplishing anything. But back then SMALL INDIE COMPANY, PLEASE UNDERSTAND was the reality of the situation, now its LARGE AAA COMPANY, YOU'LL BUY IT ANYWAY, PIGGY. NOW SQUEAL! OINK! OINK! OINK!
The only way for the games will improve is for Nintendo and Creatures to kick Game Freak out of TPC, and have someone else make the main series games, or have someone from Nintendo to supervise Game Freak and dope slap them Three Stooges style whenever they faff about ot do something stupid.
