bait but idc, the more i think about it, the more i think it's not about XY, it's about GF who doesn't care about stories and never did. I don't even know if you can consider Gen 5 story outside pokemon anymore. Let's say im too disappointed of this shitty company to think they ever made something smart story wise. But yeah, XY is shit story wise, and SwSh somehow is even worse. i'd really like to hear some positive opinion about them, but usually those are pretty surface level

I think they have improved a bit since Gen V.
Sycamore started this trend of professors being younger, more involved, and having a social life. I honestly like the subplot of him being a former co-worker with the villain.
Unlike before where professors were mostly old, retired and confined to the lab. Or Juniper who gets replaced by her dad.
Now we get to see like Professor Kukui who is a married man with hobbies. Or Arven's parents who fucked off and became robots.

And he sucked balls, Sycamore's role in XY was justifying Lysandre's actions

All the young professors are bad, with Sonia being the worst because she only wrote a book and the entire game being a she was in a journey to "find herself"

Team Flare was actually about the rich Elite, remember they do he whole "PAY THIS MUCH TO JOIN (Survive the incoming Purge)" so they are basically Lysandre (Rich "Innovator" Buisnessman with a Messiah Complex who controls the Media) and a bunch of Rich Nepobabies. Remember anon, XY was in 2013, OWS/"Fuck the 1%" was in 2011, that stuff was still in the younger generations head (due teachers and adults yammering about it) and narrative when it entered development.
