>>58244399They're probably considering putting GO on the chopping block so they can make a successor that's in more stable hands (ideally their own), seeing as how it's been close to a decade since the app took the world by storm, went through phases galore, and is now at that state where most of the whales have grown utterly exhausted with the game and don't really care to pay up anymore compared to the sheer revenue of the past.
Sure, 500M annually is insane to think about, but that's piss compared to the literal billions of the past, especially when all of that cashflow has to be split up and distributed to multiple channels before it reaches Pokemon's owners, and more importantly, TPC itself.
Given the absolute state of the fact that completing LGPE's dex in HOME gives you a Shiny Meltan that you literally can't evolve, I'm willing to bet this new app is also how they intend to address GO being one-way-only, since they want to be entirely stubborn and refuse to abandon Meltan's reliance on candies.
Also of note is the speculative idea that LZA Pokemon data will be significantly different structurally from how it's been handled since RS, especially the concept of IVs disappearing entirely since Champions notably lacks any mention or ability to modify the equivalent of IVs, only EVs.
