The reason people call it "girly" is because the last grass starter we had to go off of, Venusaur, was a plug ugly frog with a gnarly giant jungle plant growing off of its back. Meanwhile Meganium is a much plainer, "cleaner" looking sauropod with a much prettier flower around its neck.

That's how it's always been for a lot of people. I get it to an extent, but Meganium feels like it could really be either (before they changed it so that the male has longer stamens)
