>>58256003HGSS are just a slog every time I try to play them. The replayability is awful and they rely way too much on shitty gimmicks to not have a boring experience. Leveling up a team sucks because low exp given to you in the game, cant even fucking evolve the togepi egg you get a badge into the game until you get to the end of the postgame (why??), shitty storyline with 3 subpar main “points” which end with an anticlimactic battle with a random admin, getting normal evolution stones are almost impossible as time based events basically decide whether you’ll enjoy this game, no vs seeker so you cant rematch trainers for exp. Voltorb flip is boring as shit after you played it for 5 minutes and being force to grind it if you want good TMs before Kanto makes team building even more awful and slow. Elite 4 starts at level 40, not only making it the lowest elite 4 start by 6 levels, but meaning that you wont be able to use some of your favourite pokemon (ex dragonite) until half way through the postgame without sweeping every gym. Kanto being the postgame is this hyped up “omg we can go back to our roots” moment which is immediately floundered by the fact that not only is kanto devoid of any actual substance besides catching pokemon and defeating underbaked gym leaders, but there is no more story.
Gyms are way too easy and are ordered wrong (kanto is meant to be free, I know, but why is brock stronger than sabrina??) . The storyline is easily bottom 3 in the series with big gaps in the story only being fixed through a limited time event that you cannot experience without hacking your game (again, why??) and is entirely nonsensical with giovanni never even appearing in the game unless, you guessed it, ANOTHER limited time event that is only accessible through hacking your game.
