i like regionals conceptually more but it was a pandoras box and i hate what they've become.
Megas are less intrusive and can be more easily ignored so I like them more.
Really I hate both.

My favorite already got a Mega. I don't mind Megas, but Regional Forms at least don't require an item slot and have less reason to worry about disappearing in the next generation.

Regionals every day. I like the designs better overall and I enjoy having different flavours of the same thing that are able to interact with each other, which is a lot easier to do with a different species than a temporary super form.
Also a bunch of my favourites already got regionals.

I would prefer more regionals over megas because they could just removed mega evolution again and all those designs would just be gone. The can omit regional variants but that has to be an active choice, rather than relying on a whole ass mechanic.

regionals easily, the concept should have been explored way earlier in the series than it was.

they should be more willing to stray from the original designs though, more cursolas and runeriguses, less palette swaps or just the original wearing a wig/hat

Notice how everyone says they prefer regionals, but no one would ever prefer their favorites to get a regional instead of a mega

Megas are more interesting to me since it dramatically alters how a Pokemon plays. Massive update to their stats, abilities, movepool expansion.
Regional Variants are cool for lore, but don't do anything for the original mon. Like Galar Farfetch'd, Zigzagoon, or Hisui Quilfish. Just makes the original version obsolete since they can't fully evolve. It's basically a new species.

Regionals can go into Pokemon Home, Megas cannot. Megas do not give me the satisfaction of completing a living form origin dex.

Fact: The only reason people like megas as much as they do is because following gimmicks like Z-Moves and Gigantamaxes are shit and made Megas look better by comparison. In an ideal world, all of them would have been dropped and regionals would have been expanded on in better ways.

Regionals for me. Megas are usually adding more stuff and most mons that get them end up overdesigned unless their base form is underdesigned like Mawile. Mons that are already developed and detailed enough are better off getting alts/regionals, which feel less like a retcon of the og design, and more like a celebration of it with a different flavor.
Generally, regionals for mons that i like and megas for those i don't would be ideal.
