Ashninja is never coming back. Battle Bond is staying but is now a one-time boost to the same stats Ashninja got boosts in (basically turning Greninja into Ashninja stat-wise).

That's basically the ideal outcome for Greninja now, yeah. Have it pull off a revenge kill or a surprise kill, get Battle Bond buffs, then pop Mega.

Would the battle bond buff still apply when it mega evolves because it gets a new ability when it does that still Greninja being the only pokemon to have 3 unique abilities is crazy especially because for now you can't breed battle bond to a greninja you have to get the one from Alola and hold on to it all the way to now to have that power legitimately making it one of the rarest pokemon to own

Modern Battle Bond is literally just stat gains, its not a special status or something. So yes as long as its allowed to mega.
