>>58263286I don't really have much interest in provided a 'valid' argument. Anything I have to say has been covered by YouTube video #27368, but
FRLG was a masterful remake, which isn't hard to pull off since the base game was so flawed. Because of the fine tuning and balance, far less mons felt like a chore to raise. For example, Charmander learning metal claw opened up some options to help it learn flamethrower at a level much lower than the original game. They took a flawed, yet highly revered game and perfected it with virtually no drawbacks. And even with all the balancing, it was overall more difficult than yellow, simply because the CPU used the tweaks to their advantage just the same.
Cut to HGSS, and the conversion was a mixed bag. While FRLG only needed to accommodate for the one mon in the base game with steel typing (magnemite) and Umbreon if you even decided to run it, HGSS had to accommodate for the phys/special split which had mixed results. For example, Cyndaquil's 'exclusive' flame wheel became assigned to its lesser attack stat just because. So you can say that my issue with HGSS was that the original game was already baby-mode easy, and there was nothing be drawing me in that the game had to offer aside from the improved day care system, which has zero appeal until you hang in their for the post game.
>>58263274It was historically one of the weaker Pokdexes. And when Black/White introduced the power creep it did, it's one of those things that give you the illusion that Johto didn't age well, and it honestly, really didn't. That doesn't erase the fact that GSC will forever remain one one of the best GBC games ever made though.
