They aren't really remakes, more like reimaginings. They resemble the originals about as much as John Carpenter's The Thing resembles The Thing From Another World. In quality they are quite poor, but that is to be expected of modern Pokemon games.

They're heart attack inducing levels of adorable. They have some fun mechanics, and we can finally ride our pokemon.
But it ramps up the hand holding and baby level challenge to the highest level in the series. Chaining for shinies is broken and doesn't work. The expensive as fuck mew DLC is dumb. The catching mechanic sucks and literally gatekeeps people with disabilities from playing.

It is the only mainline i truly enjoyed on the Switch. It looked great and you could play coop, the only thing i hated about it is the Pokemon GO catching system, that alone is enough to make it a mediocre game overall.
