>>58292285The battle zones are a bit overwhelming, as they are pretty big and diverse, and there doesn’t seem to be a limit to how many trainers can be in one given zone at a time, as I regularly had the radar going off when the phone detected a trainer from around the corner. Most battles are pretty quick though, I don’t think I spent more than a minute coasting through each one, although I battled a lot and eventually there is a cap on how many points you can earn. There isn’t a cap on gold medals that you can collect that allow you to enter battle zones, although it costs to come back in if you leave.
I really enjoyed the promotion battle, as it felt like I was being played around with by the cpu. While the regular pokemon don’t seem to have good AI, the Alphas and the trainers definitely do, and as I said earlier, they had a specific Strat abusing switches and protect. It was the frustrating type of won. I still lost though.

For instance, there was a shrub of vines that were blocking an alley way, but they burned from my Tepig’s Flame Wheel, which then opened up a previously inaccessible path, that then led me to a back alley/park area guarded by an an Alpha Heracross. The battle and wild zones also extend to the rooftops, and despite not being able to fly, you can jump down to lower platforms at any time. There is a lot of vertacality.
