While I agree that Pokemon should put more budget in their games, this Metroid game has been development for 8 years or something which is the only reason why its budget became that high. Most Pokemon games are given 3 years of time. GF is giving Gen 10 way more time than they have given any other Pokemon gen, so let's see how it turns out.

Pokemon doesn't need the budget because it's guaranteed to sell 25 million copies at the minimum for new generation games.
Metroid needs the budget because it needs to catch the eyes of burgers, since Japan historically does not care for Metroid.

And yet Metroid doesn't make a fraction of what Pokemon games do. ZA will outsell MP4 many times over this holiday alone. It's not that Pokemon "can't" get a budget like this, it's because from a numbers-crunchers business POV, it doesn't need it to sell. The market isn't rejecting Pokemon games in its current state, so Nintendo/Gamefreak/TPC aren't going to suddenly start pumping in all this additional money when the guys that they pay to calculate profitability have already told them it would result in less profit unless sales figures were to grow dramatically.

Im not surprised, that's a project that has been remade from scratch like 3 times in a period of over 10 years.
A bigger budget doesn't guarantee a better product, Nintendo would leave a ton of money on the table if they decide to wait 10 years between each Pokemon release.

The only "source" for this claim is a guy who also said it was delayed until 2026. Even if that figure is somehow true, it would only be due to its development having to be cancelled and started again from scratch. Same reason Waterworld was the most expensive movie at one time, because the set got wrecked and they had to rebuild it.
