The next one and onwards will be the least hackable pokémon games ever cause those will all be Switch 2 exclusives (unless some daredevils find a workaround for the Switch 2 sooner than later)

It's Nintendo. From Wii to Switch 1 they had the only console where leaks could be played early relatively easily. Maybe 360 I did play RE5 a week early. I haven't bothered hacking my PS4 but didn't most games need to be patched to run on lower fw in that scene?

Do remember that the Switch 1 hack was a rare golden unicorn because of the major bootROM oversight, which only applies to the first year of production models. There hasn't been a new exploit since and it's been 7 years, only modchips and flashcarts came out, which took years to develop.

It boils entirely down to how soon a copy ends up in the hands of someone who's willing and able to dump it. IIRC, a bunch of people managed to get PLA until some random South American who didn't give a shit about the law managed to talk a store into selling it early.

Games original release date was Nov 19th, the Day 1 patch was released Nov 11th, and the game leaked like a day or two before the patch. So 9-10 days before official release.
I remember because the base game without the patch was so unfinished that people weren't actually sure if the leak was the legit retail game or not.
