>>58335198No they haven't. A lot of people on that thread that were criticizing Clover also admitted to not playing Clover. Why are people allowed to comment on a piece of media they haven't consumed? Word of mouth has just made people think that Clover is this hate speech nazi game that promotes all sorts of terrible things, even though the game labels itself as a parody and it clearly warns the player that it just has a lot of edgy humor. But sure, "PokéTuber Number 100 told me that Clover is an evil and satanic game so I need to parrot that opinion".
What people don't seem to comprehend is that Clover is a product of a different time of the internet in which a lot more games, TV shows and other forms of entertainment had the same kind of edgy humor. MSPA, South Park, Family Guy. Sure, that stuff doesn't fly as easily anymore, especially outside of 4chan, but you don't have to be the sharpest tool in the shed to understand that those things weren't created with the intention of actually spreading hate. Historical context matters, media doesn't exist on a vacuum devoid of it. Besides, Clover was a huge piece of rom-hacking history. Meh. People ruin everything by equating humor to hate.
I don't particularly care about RetroAchievements, but it does set a precedent towards censoring old content that is "now considered problematic" which I despise.
