How sad is it that the thing I'm looking forward to in ZA is how they have improved/added to customizing your character?

No harm in having an interest in player expression in video games, even if it's surface level expression like basic avatar customization. Player expression is the key ingredient that makes games stand out compared to movies or literature. I would say if would speak more if basic avatar customization was ALL you were really looking for however, but Pokemon as a franchise has always had a strong sense of player expression inherit to it's design.

your customization in SV were different school uniforms and sometimes a hat or glasses added. They didn’t want to change it from the school theme so your customization was almost exclusively school related except for that one japanese festival outfit with the masks. But yeah the customization there was probably uglier than BDSP

You have more hair and face options than previous entries, but the main outfit selection is very limited.
