Imagine if in Mega Man Battle Network 4/5/6, the emotion window gave a text box that dimmed the screen every single time Mega Man's emotion changed.
>You've countered the opponent! Lan and Mega Man are in Full Synchro and will deal twice the damage with their next attack!
>You used a Dark Chip! Mega Man's overflowing with dark power, but be careful of bugs and losing control!
>You've taken surprise damage! Mega Man is Angry and will hit back twice as hard next time!
>Mega Man is Anxious about the flow of the battle! He's getting desperate and can't enter full synchro!
>Mega Man is tired from Beast Out! He can't focus!
>Mega Man is Exhausted! He's losing strength fast and can't use his full abilities, end it quickly!
>Mega Man's heart is resonating with with [Navi]! Mega Man used [Navi] Soul!
>Mega Man's inner darkness is resonating with [Navi]! Mega Man used Chaos [Navi] Soul!
>Mega Man feels the power of [Navi]! Mega Man used [Navi] Cross!
>Mega Man's inner beast has been unleashed! [Cybeast] Beast Out!
>Mega Man has combined the power of [Cybeast] and [Navi]! [Navi] Beast Cross!
>Mega Man's lost control! [Cybeast] Beast Over!
>Mega Man has returned to normal!
>Mega Man has a bug! Who knows what might happen?
The gameplay doesn't change at all, it just now gives mandatory text and pauses to stretch things out. Except it's even more annoying in Pokémon because it gives you benefits the opponent doesn't get in an already easy game.
